Winix PlasmaWave 5300 Air Cleaner Review

Winix PlasmaWave 5300 Air Cleaner Review

The Winix PlasmaWave 5300 Air Cleaner is unique in the air cleaner world. Rather then using ionizers, UV lights or other common methods for cleaning your air. The Winix uses a plasma generator which attacks airborne particles and pollutants at a molecular level. As well as a tested and proven HEPA filter which captures 99.97% of particles, even those as small as 0.3 microns, and a carbon pre-filter which absorbs odors.

And with their built in air quality sensor system, it truly is a “set and forget” air purifier. Which will adjust its fan speed automatically depending on the air quality in the room. And it is built to handle very large rooms, delivering crisp clean air even in room of over 280 square feet. With CADR certification, as well as Energy star approval.

User Reviews

The Winix PlasmaWave 5300 Air Cleaner has received pretty solid reviews from its customers, with a average rating of 4.5 out of 5 stars. And that is within 52 current customer reviews at the time of writing this.

One reviewer compared this air purifier to a previous purchase, the Surround Air Xj3000 C. And While the Surround air was a disappointment, they had nothing but positive things to say about the Winix. Using it in a 400 sq ft room with three smokers in there smoking for hours, and no leftover smell afterwords. And it worked equally well picking up their cats hair, mentioning that cleaning the pre-filter every 2 to 3 days kept it running 100% effectively.

Several other reviewers followed that up with similar comments, adding in the fact that the unit itself is really quiet. To the point where they never really notice it running unless they physically check on it. With a couple stating that they run it on full blast all the time with no difference in noise level, so there’s no reason not to run it on full.

The only complaint people really seemed to have with the Winix, was the fact that the replacement HEPA filters are on the expensive side. However, the unit itself isn’t as expensive as most lesser purifiers let alone similar ones. And you can normally get it at a cheaper price via amazon.

Overall, based on the customer reviews and our own research the Winix PlasmaWave seems like a great choice if your looking for a powerful air purifier without spending a ton of money unnecessarily.
