BVR WEEKLY RECAP 3/17/15

Hey everybody! Ready for this week’s new releases, sales, and my recent recommendations + reviews? There are a TON of books that look good and I’m itching to read all of them, like Pocketful of Sand by M. Leighton (epic, emotional romance), The Risk by Skye Jordan (sports romance: therapist + her client), Changing Tides by Sarah Darlington (this sounds SO unique: heroine is a lesbian but meeting the hero makes her re-evaluate her sexual orientation and maybe she does want some M/F action…), War by Isabel Lucero (crime romance – hero and heroine are enemies!!), If by Nina G. Jones (mysterious blurb, a bunch of what-ifs), and Lovely Distraction by JJ Dorn (second chance romance – heroine sees her old flame on the way to her bachelorette party!). Lots of choices, decisions decisions…

  • Wild Reckless by Ginger Scott – LOVED THIS BOOK!!! If there is only 1 book you can get from today’s list it’s this one guys. So dark (for a YA romance), so angsty, and it’ll hit you straight in the heart with feels. One of my top favorites for the year! (here’s my review)
  • Shadows of the Past by HM Ward & Stacey Mosteller – this one’s a NA collaborative romance from H.M. Ward and Stacey Mosteller. “I’ve been running for four years, trapped in a past I can’t forget. I’m unable to move forward and refuse to go back. The only way to dissolve the shadows is to begin again. So I try…When Hot British Guy spots me, there’s an instant attraction…The next day, he’s there looking all sexy. Brilliant blue eyes blazing, his dark hair falls in his eyes and a wicked grin twists his perfect lips. God help me.”
  • The Risk by Skye Jordan – sports romance I’m really looking forward to reading! The heroine is a physical therapist whose latest client is the smooth-talking, snowboarder hero…so a kinda taboo romance 😉
  • Hausfrau by Jill Alexander Essbaum – a pricey one, but the blurb really called out to me! It’s described as a modern-day Anna Karenina tale “featuring a fascinating heroine who struggles to live a life with meaning”, and follows the story about a woman who becomes increasingly dissatisfied with her family life and seeks out a series of sexual affairs to escape reality. “When she wants to end them, she finds it’s difficult. Tensions escalate, and her lies start to spin out of control. Having crossed a moral threshold, Anna will discover where a woman goes when there is no going back.”
  • Reckless Love by Kendall Ryan ($.99) – fighter romance standalone!
  • Time Out & Body Check by Jill Shalvis & Elle Kennedy – 2-book sports romance bundle from 2 awesome authors!
  • Pocketful of Sand by M. Leighton – this sounds so good! “I don’t know what makes a great love story…I only know what makes my love story…He was more broken than I was, but somehow we took each other’s shattered pieces and made a whole. If that is what makes a great love story, if that is what makes an epic romance, then mine…ours is the greatest of them all.” <– LOVE THAT!
  • Famous by Kahlen Aymes – Hollywood romance about 2 actors!
  • Chase Me by Tessa Bailey
  • Changing Tides by Sarah Darlington ($.99) – I really want to read this! The heroine is a lesbian and fully embraces her sexuality and nothing and nobody has made her question her lifestyle until the hero waltzes into her life. “Nate West. Hollywood bad-boy. Television megastar. Womanizer. Basically everything I hate about the male species rolled into one handsome package. And yet…I want him…This man is going to flip everything [she] thought she knew about herself upside down.”
  • Soaring by Kristen Ashley – This is the 2nd book in her Magdalene series and can be read as a standalone. The heroine has hit rock bottom in her life – her husband cheated on her, her children don’t respect her, and when her ex moves her family up to Magadelene, she follows to win her kids back and that’s where she meets the sweet firefighter hero.
  • Night Shift Anthology – 6-book charity bundle!
  • War by Isabel Lucero – this sounds so good! The heroine is the daughter of a notorious crime group and after her father’s death, it’s she who leads, pitting her against the hero who’s also lethal and has his own crime group. “I’ll do whatever’s necessary to keep my business my own and protect everything my father worked for. Even if I have to go up against [the hero]…A man with no heart and a black soul…A man who once upon a time I thought I was in love with…My name is Chevelley Reed, and all’s fair in love and war.”
  • Mismatched by Elle Casey & Amanda McKeon – 2 college roommates go to Ireland to track down an inheritance and this is their wild story…
  • Leaving Amarillo by Caisey Quinn – rockstar romance
  • Retribution by KA Robinson
  • Trust the Focus by Megan Erickson – M/M NA romance!
  • Shaken, Not Stirred by Sawyer Bennett – 5th book & a standalone in her Last Call series! “She swore she would never fall to any man. He took one look at her and vowed to bring her down.”
  • When I Fall by J. Daniels – LOL –> “For the past nine years, I’ve kept my heart as far away from my dick as possible. Those two can’t be anywhere near each other. They don’t play nice, and one of them undoubtedly winds up getting hurt.”
  • Disillusioned by JS Cooper
  • Protecting Fate by Katee Robert
  • Monsters in the Dark series by Pepper Winters ($.99) – DO NOT MISS THIS!!! All 3 books in one of my top favorite dark romance series bundled together and only $.99 is an insane sale!
  • Jack Hammer by Tabatha Vargo & Melissa Andrea – The hero is an exotic dancer, the teaser, the pleaser. Years ago he had an ugly fall out with the heroine and “…now she’s back, and I can’t decide who I want to be more. The Jack Hammer or Blaine Wesley. All I know is she’s foreplay at its finest, and it’s my job to get them wet and ready.”
  • Ripple of Secrets by Denise Grover Swank
  • Private Encounters by Anie Michaels ($.99)
  • If by Nina G. Jones – blurb sounds really interesting: “If…Someone hadn’t scarred my face. I hadn’t followed my dreams to LA. That tweaker hadn’t attacked that homeless guy. I hadn’t invited a stranger over for Thanksgiving. I hadn’t fallen in love. If I hadn’t lost him.”
  • Soul Rest by Joey Hill – This is the 7th book in her Knights of the Boardroom series and is an erotic romance. The heroine is a blogger who specializes in writing about crime news. Even knowing that she’s a submissive, she abandons that way of living because her past and present work life aren’t compatible with a carefree BDSM life. “Then Sergeant Leland Keller walks into her life. He’s the Dom she’s always feared and hoped she’d meet, and he recognizes her as what he’s been looking for as well…she fights submission as much as she longs for it.”
  • Naughty King 1 by Michelle A. Valentine ($.99)
  • Cement Heart by Beth Ehemann
  • Accidental Alpha by Laurel Curtis
  • Lovely Distraction by J.J. Dorn – this sounds like a fabulous second chance romance! “I met him over five years ago…He was unlike anyone I had ever met before. I knew I would never be able to forget him…nor did I want to. But unfortunately for us, fate was not kind. Now as I sit on this airplane about to leave for my bachelorette party in Las Vegas, I look up to lock eyes with the one person who continuously haunts me, day and night. I fight back a sick feeling in my gut, knowing my life has just forced me to a crossroads. I feel the static electricity in the air between us and I know I’m not strong enough to resist him…”
  • Djinn & Tonic by Jasinda Wilder
  • Thin Love (#1) and My Beloved (#1.5) by Eden Butler are $.99 each!! I ADORED these books. They’re angsty, deeply passionate second chance romances that’ll have your heart racing and your attention glued to the pages. Don’t miss this sale! Here’s my review for book 1 and here’s my review for the novella.
  • Chasing Serenity (#1), Behind the Pitch (#1.5), Finding Serenity (#2), and Claiming Serenity (#3) by Eden Butler are also all $.99 each! These are interconnected NA romance standalones.
  • Hate – A Love Story by Laurel Curtis ($.99) – This one’s a standalone! “Roses are red, Violets are blue. Life can be messy, And love can be too. Most people say that it’s not important where you’re going, but instead, how you get there. Unfortunately for me, the journey to love was absolutely agonizing. Love and Hate wrestled with my life day after day, year after year, and the only way to stop it was to let one of them win. Which one? I fought to love harder. But I loathe my love story.”
  • Strictly Temporary 1 ($.99) and Strictly Temporary 2 ($.99) by Ella Fox are both $.99! These books follow the romance between a small town girl with big dreams and high hopes and a city boy disillusioned with relationships.
  • Just One Night by Lauren Layne ($.99) – 3rd book in her Sex, Love, & Stiletto series and a romantic comedy, ‘I’m-in-love-with-my-brother’s-best-friend’ romance. I really adored the 4th book in this series and can’t wait to read this one and the others!
  • Remember When 2 by T. Torrest ($.99) – This is the second book in her wonderfully written, nostalgia-inducing Hollywood romance series filled with fun ’90s references, and is a completed trilogy. I loved these books!
  • Rule by Jay Crownover ($.99) – top favorite book! “I think it’s genetically impossible not to be kind of in love with him when you come equipped with a vagina. It’s just something about all that angsty, moody swagger he has that makes you want to cuddle him up and make him feel better.” LOL!!
  • Beyond series bundle (books 1-3) by Kit Rocha ($.99)
  • One to Keep by Tia Louise ($.99)
  • Dust to Dust (#1), Wished Away (#2), and His Jar of Hearts (#3) by S.P. Cervantes are on sale! The first book is FREE, the 2nd and 3rd are $.99 each. These are interconnected standalone reads.
  • The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins ($6.99) – $3 price drop! This is a psychological thriller on my TBR. Every day, the heroine takes the same commuter train that stops at this one spot where she sees the same couple out on a deck. “And then she sees something shocking. It’s only a minute until the train moves on, but it’s enough. Now everything’s changed. Unable to keep it to herself, Rachel offers what she knows to the police, and becomes inextricably entwined in what happens next, as well as in the lives of everyone involved. Has she done more harm than good?”
  • Into the Deep by Samantha Young ($.99) – I noticed this is still on sale for $.99. If you haven’t gotten it/haven’t read it yet, I recommend bumping it up on your TBR. This author always combines the right amount of angst, steam, romance, and humor to deliver an addicting read. This book is one of my top favorites!
  • Contractual by Alice Montalvo-Tribue ($.99) – This one’s an erotic escort romance! “They told me I’d be an escort; they made it sound so easy. Really I’m just a high priced call girl. Desperation brought me to this and it led me to him, my one and only client. Hating him is easy, he reminds me of my shame. Wanting him is wrong it fills me with guilt. Loving him is a losing battle yet it’s become everything.”
  • In Your Corner by Sarah Castille ($1.99) – This one’s a second chance MMA fighter romance and the 2nd book in her Redemption series (can be read as a standalone). The hero and heroine were once an inseparable item but when he wanted more, she was the one to walk away. Now years later, she’s a top-notch lawyer and the hero needs her help. “Jake is darker, sexier, and impossible to resist. As their chemistry builds, Amanda’s not sure if she can stay in control, or if she’s finally willing to let him claim her body and soul.”
  • Hard to Come By by Laura Kaye ($.99) – This is the 3rd book in Laura Kaye’s Hard Ink series about a group of ex-soldiers running an operation against a crime ring out of the back of their tattoo shop and find love in the process. FYI, I think romance-wise these are standalones but the plot is continuous throughout the books so it’s best to read them in order.
  • Music of the Heart by Katie Ashley ($.99) – This one’s a NA rockstar romance that I really enjoyed! It’s pretty sweet, and follows the romance about a girl who was supposed to join her brother’s band, but hops onto the wrong tour bus and ends up with the hero’s band teehee! “Can a sweetheart Country songstress and a bad boy of Rock N Roll actually have a future together?”
  • Truth or Dare by Mira Lyn Kelly ($.99) – This is the enemies to lovers one where the hero and heroine are next-door neighbors and their relationship starts off rocky. “He and [the heroine] can’t stop fighting—and that’s just the beginning…the last thing he needs is his neighbor distracting him with her girl-next-door smile and sharp tongue.”
  • Touch & Go by Mira Lyn Kelly – my last read and a friends-to-lovers romance! This was a solid read and gave me a nice break from the heavy books I’ve been reading lately. If you want something light, check this one out (here’s my review).
  • Wild Reckless by Ginger Scott – new release and TOP recommendation!!! I absolutely adored this book and it’s the perfect choice if you’re in the mood for a dark, angsty read. One of my favorite YA romances for sure (here’s my review).
  • Heartbreaker by Julie Garwood – an oldie and from an author I absolutely adore! This romantic suspense read of hers was chilling and the villain gave me the creeps. Not my favorite from this series but still an unpredictable, gripping read (here’s my review).
  • Confess by Colleen Hoover – recent release! This wasn’t a full winner for me, but it’s a book with a lot of beauty and so much to offer. Not my favorite book of CoHo’s but I’m still a fan nevertheless (here’s my review).
  • The Contradiction of Solitude by A. Meredith Walters <– recent release from a favorite author that totally messed with my mind! Be warned that this is NOT a romance, just a pure psychological thriller. I didn’t know how to rate it with so many conflicting thoughts (here’s my review).
  • The Trouble with Love by Lauren Layne <– OMG this book!! Another winner for me – 4.5 stars – and it’s a book that’ll make you fall in love with the idea of love. • Shug by Jenny Han <– this was a re-read for me, and one of my favorite YA books!! I’m amazed that after seven years since I last read it, it still affects me and makes an impact. 5 stars and a book I’d recommend to everyone – you, your teenage kids, your friends, etc…(here’s my review)

  • Sweet Fall by Tillie Cole <– a TOP recommendation!! This NA romance is one of the darkest and emotionally heavy stories I’ve read in a long while, but it was exactly what I was in the mood for. It also made me ugly cry and I’m just blown away by the amount of emotion it evoked….if you’re looking for a standalone romance guaranteed to make you FEEL, try this one! (here’s my review)
  • Dear Emily (#1) and Dear Tabitha (#2) by Trudy Stiles <– TOP recommendation! These books are a blend of realistic women’s fiction with romance and made my heart feel so full…I loved both and being able to read them back to back let me carry my emotions from the first book to the second without delay. BEST kind of reading experience!! Here’s my review for book 1 and here’s my review for book 2. Be sure to read these in order!
  • Extinguish (#1) and Reignite (#2) by JM Darhower <– TOP recommendation!! This 2-book paranormal forbidden romance was unputdownable from the get go and I didn’t want the story to end. I mean, the hero is Lucifer, the Devil! That alone made me pick these up  Here’s my review for book 1 and here’s my review for book 2.
  • Amour Amour by Krista & Becca Ritchie <– I really enjoyed this NA romance! This was so unique (setting is in the circus) and the character development was stunning! It truly embodies every aspect of NA and as always, the authors’ writing style is great. Totally recommend (here’s my review)

It was SO emotional, SO intense, SO passionate, and SO good. 6 star series for me!! (here’s my series review) These books must be read in order!
PENELOPE DOUGLAS NEWS!!
She’s got a new standalone book coming out at the end of this year called Misconduct, and I’m so excited to read it!! It’s a sexy contemporary read following the romance between a dedicated schoolteacher and the all-business-no-emotion father of one of her students.

“Former tennis player Easton Bradbury is trying to be the best teacher she can be, trying to reach her bored students, trying to forget her past. What brought her to this stage in her life isn’t important. She can’t let it be. But now one parent-teacher meeting may be her undoing…Meeting Tyler Marek for the first time makes it easy for Easton to see why his son is having trouble in school. The man knows how to manage businesses and wealth, not a living, breathing teenage boy. Or a young teacher, for that matter, though he tries to. And yet…there is something about him that draws Easton in—a hint of vulnerability, a flash of attraction, a spark that might burn.

Wanting him is taboo. Needing him is undeniable. And his long-awaited touch will weaken Easton’s resolve—and reveal what should stay hidden…”

JOANNA WYLDE NEWS!!
I’m a huge fan of her Reapers MC series (biker romances) and details for the 5th book in this series have been announced! It’s called Reaper’s Fall and will be released on November 10, plus it’s Painter’s book!!! You can preorder a copy here.
The New York Times bestselling author of Reaper’s Stand is back in her “uber-alpha rough world of MCs”* as one woman’s future is rocked by the man whose hardcore past could destroy her…

He never meant to hurt her.

Levi “Painter” Brooks was nothing before he joined the Reapers motorcycle club. The day he patched in, they became his brothers and his life. All they asked in return was a strong arm and unconditional loyalty—a loyalty that’s tested when he’s caught and sentenced to prison for a crime committed on their behalf.Melanie Tucker may have had a rough start, but along the way she’s learned to fight for her future. She’s escaped from hell and started a new life, yet every night she dreams of a biker whose touch she can’t forget. It all started out so innocently—just a series of letters to a lonely man in prison. Friendly. Harmless. Safe.

Now Painter Brooks is coming home… and Melanie’s about to learn that there’s no room for innocence in the Reapers MC.

TIJAN NEWS!!
I really loved her addicting, action-packed NA romance Carter Reed and she’s just revealed the cover + release date for the follow up Carter Reed 2!!
Release date: April 27
J. STERLING NEWS!!
She’s got a new book coming out in less than 2 weeks called 10 Years Later, plus the cover was just revealed and it is so innovative. I love it!
“Cammie:
It’s been ten years since I’ve seen him. Ten years. I have no idea what he’s doing, where he’s been or if he’s even still single. Have I thought about him over the years? Of course. Absolutely. But that doesn’t mean anything, right? Just because you think about the boy you used to be in love with doesn’t mean you’re still in love with them now. Does it?
Dalton:
I haven’t seen her in ten years. She’s the whole reason I’m even coming to this reunion. If it wasn’t for her, I would have stayed home. I made mistakes back in high school. Hell, I was just a kid then. But I’m here to right my wrongs, tell her I’m sorry and win her back. She changed my whole life and she doesn’t even know it. It’s time she knew.”
MELISSA BROWN NEWS!!

One of my favorite books from last year was Wife Number Seven, and it was such a unique, unconventional romance with a polygamy backdrop! I 5 star loved it, and I’m so excited that there’ll be a follow up novella to this story that’ll tie up Brin and Porter’s story once and for all. The cover, blurb, and release date all have been revealed!
“I didn’t think I’d ever want to devote my life to someone. That is, until Brin.
I was twenty-six years old the day she entered my life, just when I’d given up hope, just when I’d given up completely on having any shred of happiness in my pathetic excuse for a life. After years of indecision, self destruction and soul-searching, she found me.
Brinley challenged everything I thought I knew. She proved that goodness could still come from that hellish compound. Goodness, bravery and love. She changed everything the moment she knocked on the door of my apartment, acting as brave as a lion, even though she was shaking like a terrified mouse stuck in my trap.
And now, three years later, I want her as my wife. My only wife. Till death do us part.
Just us.
And I’ve never wanted anything more.”
Release date: March 29
CHARLES SHEEHAN-MILES NEWS!!
I’m a big fan of his Thompson sisters series, and lucky for me (and you too!), we’re getting another book!! It’s called A View From Forever and is a prequel to Just Remember to Breathe, a NA second chance military romance.
I’ll post again when I see more about the blurb and release date.
That’s it for this week! Happy reading & 1-clicking everyone
